How to build a Scorecard Metric

Building Metrics seems challenging, but it is quite easy if you have a basic understanding of Salesforce. To build metrics, you will need to make sure you have a Scorecard Admin Permission Set.

The first thing you will do is to go to your Scorecard Builder tab. Then click on Metrics.

Once there, choose build new metric.

You will then come to the Metric overview page where you will create the Metric.

Name the Metric, which will auto-populate a 3-letter abbreviation used in the Activity Overview Grid. To learn about Activity Overview, click here.

You will need to enter a description of the metric next. Make sure this explains all the elements the metric will be tracking. The user will be able to view this description in Scorecard so they know what to do.

You will then need to decide if this is a Cumulative Metric or a Waterline Metric. We will use Cumulative. For Waterline Metrics, click here.

Once you choose Cumulative, it will be highlighted and you can proceed with the rest of the criteria. You will need to choose the record (object) the metric will be tracking. Then the date and user. The date is going to help the metric determine if the record gets counted. For example, if we are looking at tasks that are phone calls for this week, the date will need to be within this week. For this example, we will look at Tasks that were completed within the week, so we chose Completed Date. The user who will receive credit for the metric is going to be the user the task was Assigned To in this case.

Next, we will create filters (not mandatory). For this example, we will need to tell the metric what makes the task a phone call.

We will be looking at the task object, and then we will determine what field on the object we will use to filter calls. In this case, we want to look at the Type to tell the metric the task type is Call.

(You could also choose multiple items from a picklist (command/ctrl click).

NOTE: This is based on YOUR Salesforce Org. All instances are different. Some have standard objects and fields, some are very custom. Many things can work. Reach out to gethelp@leveleleven.com for metric building inquiries.

The last few steps include picking how we are calculating score, and what field we will look at to calculate. In this case, we are just counting tasks that are calls.

If you were counting a dollar amount, you could choose Sum, choose the field you were summing (Amount), and then Currency.

If you would like Pacing, make sure the circle is marked, and choose your type of pacing by clicking one of the 3. Then determine if you will be working on the weekends or not!

Choose fields for View Records. To learn more about View Records functionality, click here.

The last thing to do is save the Metric.
